FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The USF Juniors Presented by Cooper Tires championship heads to Road America this weekend for its fifth event of the 2023 season. Rookie Jimmie Lockhart has made his name known among the paddock this season, claiming a few podiums early as he has shown speed and persistence. The VRD Racing driver has taken a liking to road courses, scoring a podium at both the Sebring International Raceway and Barber Motorsports Park venues early this year, and hopes to improve on his performances at Road America this weekend.

With only two event weekends remaining on the USF Juniors Presented by Cooper Tires schedule, Lockhart currently sits in fifth in the championship standings and hopes to use the latest wheel-to-wheel races to move forward in his championship points positioning.

“The season has flown by,” said Lockhart. “It’s crazy how we only have two tracks left on the 2023 schedule. We’re still up in the running for a solid finish in the championship so it’ll be important to claim solid results in all three races this weekend. The VRD Racing team has helped me out tremendously this year. I’ve learned a lot from them and they always give me a quick car so I’m confident will be fighting up front if we can keep the races clean.”

During his time spent on the monster 4.014-mile, 14-turn road course, Lockhart will have three test sessions prior to one practice session, qualifying and the three wheel-to-wheel races. With all on-track sessions jammed into the three-day weekend, Lockhart is looking to close the gap to the championship point leader, all while aiming to represent VRD Racing and his partners on the top step of the podium.
