NORCROSS, Ga. – Sampling several forms of open-wheel machines throughout the 2023 season, Dane Scott is set to do battle this coming weekend in the USF Juniors Presented by Cooper Tires season finale at the famed Circuit of The Americas (COTA). Joining the Jay Howard Driver Development (JHDD) program, the team that helped him enter the world of formula car racing, Scott will see three wheel-to-wheel races this weekend as he works to determine his 2024 series of competition.
“I have been able to compete in F4, USF2000 and now I will sample USF Juniors,” explained Dane Scott. “We want to make sure that we choose the best path for next season, but also gain experience on tracks that I will likely compete on next year. Since I am relatively new to motorsports compared to my peers, each facility is a whole new learning experience for me.”
Beginning his racing career only one year ago, Scott is an 18-year-old high school student from Georgia with big dreams. Looking to make motorsports a profession, when not keeping up with his schooling, Scott is focused on improving his motorsports abilities by training, working on the simulator, or connecting with partners and potential partners throughout North America.
“Dane has done a great job as he continues to add to his knowledge and experience bank,” said JHDD’s Jay Howard, a former INDYCAR SERIES driver himself. “This is not an easy sport as it takes time, commitment and a whole lot of energy to compete and win, something that Dane Scott has proven to have in his short time in motorsports.”
Scott continued, “COTA will be tough. I have only seen the track on TV and driven it on the sim, but I know that I have the drive and determination to compete, and the team behind me to get the job done.”
With a trio of practice sessions taking place on Friday, Dane Scott and the rest of the USF Juniors grid will take to the track Saturday for qualifying and the first wheel-to-wheel action on the weekend with races two and three being held on Sunday.
