Floridian levels up to VRD Racing in USF Juniors
As the 2022 USF Juniors Presented by Cooper Tires Team Champions, VRD Racing is building a similar program as they aim to better their results in 2023. Confirming the likes of Max Taylor, Zack Ping and Ethan Barker, VRD Racing is pleased to confirm the addition of Jimmie Lockhart. After graduating from the VRD Academy program, Lockhart will begin his pre-season testing immediately with his sights set on the first event in late March.
“We look forward to Jimmie continuing as part of the VRD family and can’t wait to see him compete on the national stage,” explained VRD Racing’s Dan Mitchell, who has groomed several drivers that have graduated from his program. “Jimmie is a great kid with a ton of natural talent. He is a championship karter and is now a VRD graduate. We feel that he will be a threat for race wins and podium results by the time we take the first green flag of the season in Sebring.”
“Due to unfortunate circumstances, I was not able to make my series debut and jump to the national level in 2022,” explained Lockhart. “Persistence has paid off and we have been working hard to put a program in place. Excited to be confirmed as an official driver for VRD Racing and ready to get to work both on and off the track.”
Mitchell continued, “We have a powerful quartet and will provide them all the same winning equipment. We have our sights set on both the Team and Drivers’ Championship this season and feel that we have the team to achieve this.”
Born in March of 2007 and a dual citizen of both the United States and the UK, Lockhart is VRD Racing’s fourth and final driver for their USF Juniors effort in 2023.
Set to continue with the VRD winter test program, Lockhart will begin his USF Juniors Presented by Cooper Tires season when the first green flag flies over the March 23-25 weekend at the Sebring International Raceway.
